Early Start for Firefighters

Springfield Firefighters had an early start to the day on Thursday, July 21st.  Firefighters started the day at 0323 hours with a Rapid Intervention Team(RIT) call to assist Company 06 (Collingdale #1) in Collingdale Borough for a Working Structure Fire.  Command 06 arrived on location and reported fire showing from the porch area of a two story dwelling.  Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and Rescue 44 & Engine 44-4 staged as the RIT on scene for approximately 1 hour before being released by Command.

Station 44 was then dispatched at 0540 hours to Upper Providence Township to assist Company 73 (Rose Tree) for a reported Structure Fire.  Chief 73-9 arrived on the scene and reported a small fire in the roof area caused by a down electric line on tree branches and requested PECO to respond.  Once power was secured, Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for extension inside the dwelling.  Tower 44 operated on the scene for 2 hours before being released by 73 Command.
