I-476 Rescue
On Friday, July 18th at 0537 Hrs, Springfield Fire Company and Broomall Fire Company (Company 53) were dispatched for an accident with injuries at the Route 1 Bypass (Exit 5) interchange of I-476.  Upon arrival, 44-9B reported a two vehicle accident with one vehicle on its side.  TAC-44 was advised immediately following 44-9B's initial report that there was also entrapment in the second vehicle.  After the scene hazards were secured, crews from TAC-44 went into service with the Holmatro Rescue tools to force the driver side door open.  Rescue 44's crew along with Broomall Fire Co. assisted  with the removal of the door, and assisted EMS with patient extrication.  Units operating on scene were TAC-44, Rescue 44, Rescue 53, 53-2, Medic 53, 44-7, 53-7 and Pennsylvania State Police.
