Decon Drill at Springfield Hospital

On Saturday, July 9th, a Hazardous Materials Decontamination (Decon) drill was held at Springfield Hospital.  Rescue personnel from Springfield Fire Company, Springfield Ambulance Corps and hospital staff practiced proper procedures and set-up of the decon tent in the case of a Haz-Mat incident.

The equipment is stored at Springfield Hospital's Emergency Room and is designed to handle the decontamination of a large number of individuals that may have been exposed to a hazardous substance.  The affected people have to be throughly decontaminated before being treated inside the Emergency Room.

The drill was coordinated by Medic106-9 (Quinn) and the exercise was lead by Chief Quinn and Chief 44-9A.  Units participating in the drill were Springfield Emergency Room Staff, Engine 44-1, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7 & Medic 106.  All participating personnel then had a critique of the drill and enjoyed a nice lunch provided by Springfield Hospital.
