MVA - I-476 at Route 1 Interchange

The Springfield Fire Company, along with Company 53 (Broomall) responded to a report of a vehicle accident at the Exit 5 (Route 1) Interchange of I-476.  Upon arrival of 44-9 and 53-9, there was a two vehicle accident, with one of the vehicles on its side between the guiderail and the traffic light standard with heavy entrapment.  Rescue personnel from Squad 44 stabalized the vehicle and along with Rescue 44 assisted Rescue 53 with extrication.  Extrication was complete at the 20min mark.
Units were then dispatched to the Harlee Manor Nursing home for the report of a Building Fire that was a microwave in the dining room.  Crews from 44-1 provided ventilalation and secured the scene.
