Firefighters Extricate Injured Passenger on State Road

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Friday, June 4th, at 1123 hours to North State Road (Route 1) and West Rolling Road for a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival of Chief 44-9 and Springfield Police, there was a two vehicle accident in the intersection and one passenger seriously injured. Chief 44-9 had the assignment upgraded to a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment.
Squad 44 arrived on location and quickly stabilized one vehicle and set-up the Holmatro rescue tools for extrication operations. EMS personnel from Medic 106 and Ambulance 44-7 handled treatment of the injured passenger and driver. Firefighters from Rescue 44 assisted with the extrication. Firefighters removed the passenger side front door to allow for removal of the passenger and assisted EMS personnel with removing of the passenger from the vehicle. EMS personnel also transported both drivers to the hospital.
EMS personnel from Ambulance 53 (Marple EMS) and Medic 53 assisted on the scene.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 1208 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Squad 44, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-7 & 44-7A, Medic 106, Ambulance 53-7, Medic 53, Springfield Police and Fire Police.
