Old Value City Building Provides Training Opportunity

Springfield Fire Company was provided the opportunity to use the old Value City Department store building at 721 West Sproul Road for training before being demolished to make way for a new grocery store.  The Kimco Realty Group made the training opportunity possible by giving the fire company access to the building.

Springfield Fire Company has conducted Rapid Intervention Team training and Large Area Search training, under the direction of instructors from the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center.  Fire Companies from Media, Swarthmore, Rose Tree, Clifton Heights, Manoa, Garrettford-Drexel Hill, Cardington-Stonehurst, Prospect Park, Holmes, and Garden City have all had an opportunity to use the building during the last 4 weeks.

Springfield Fire Company plans to complete training in the building in early July, covering Truck Company Operations before the building is turned back over to Kimco Realty.
