Early Morning Assist in Clifton Heights

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched, on Wednesday, June 1st, at 0724 hours, as the fourth due engine on the Box Assignment for the 100 Block of West Broadway Avenue in Clifton Heights for the House Fire.  Upon arrival of Chief 03-9, fire was showing from the second floor of a two story twin dwelling.

Engine 74-2 (Primos) arrived first due and placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service.  EMS personnel were treating an injured resident that had escaped the home by jumping from a second floor window prior to the emergency personnel arriving on the scene.  Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill) arrived as the RIT and assisted with laddering the structure.  Pipeline 19 9Lansdowne) secured a water supply to Engine 74-2, while Quint 03 and Engine 44-4 arrived on the scene and assisted with fire suppression and ventilation.

Chief 03-9 had Command and requested the second alarm assignment which dispatched Tower and Rescue 44 and Company 06 (Collingdale).

Firefighters contained the fire to the second floor and extensive salvage and overhaul was performed.

Firefighters from Company 44 remained on the scene until 0900 hours.
