Hazardous Materials Operations Training

Springfield Fire Company has been conducting a Hazardous Materials Operations Training class for the past two months during the regular Tuesday night training conducted at the firehouse. On Tuesday, April 21st, the participating members traveled to the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center in Darby Township to conduct the hands-on training requirements of the class.
Firefighters practiced different methods of containing hazardous materials spills. Dealing with spills in small streams, on roadways and near storm water inlets were all covered and practiced.
The participating members will be completing the class with a written and practical skills test during the month of May. All members will receive a Hazardous Materials Operations Level Certification upon successful completion of the course.
