Vehicle Fire on University Avenue

| Springfield Fire Company was dispatched with Morton (Company 11) and Rutledge (Company 13) early Wednesday morning to the area of University Avenue and Cornell Avenue for a Vehicle Fire. Upon arrival of Springfield Police, the call was determined to be in Ridley Township. Springfield Police had County 911 advise Ridley Police of the incident and have them respond to the call.
First arriving units, Engine 13-2 and Engine 44-4 , placed an 1 3/4" hose line into service from Engine 13-2 and quickly controlled the fire. Engine 44-4 supplied Engine 13-2 with additional water during the operation. Firefighters encountered some magnesium metals burning inside the engine compartment of the vehicle while completing extinguishment.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 03:57 hours.
Units operating on the scene were: Engine 13-2, Engine 44-4, Engine 11-2, Springfield Police and Ridley Township Police.
