Vehicle Crashes into House on Saxer Avenue

On Thursday, March 11th, at 14:09 hours, Springfield Fire Company was dispatched for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment in the 200 Block of Saxer Avenue. The initial calls to the County 911 Center stated that a vehicle had struck a house on Saxer Avenue. Upon arrival of Squad 44, Firefighters found a cargo van that had struck a dwelling in the area of the garage doors in the 200 Block of Saxer Avenue near Boxwood Lane. The driver of the vehicle had struck a utility pole on the opposite side of Saxer Avenue before striking the house.
Firefighters stablized the vehicle, stood by with a 1 3/4" hose line for precautionary measures and assisted the EMS personnel from Ambulance 44-7 and Medic 106 (Springfield Hospital) with gaining access to the driver and assessing for injuries. Firefighters then assisted EMS personnel with removing the driver from the vehicle.
Firefighters remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed the structure.
Units operating on the scene were: Squad 44, Rescue 44, Rescue 20 (Garrettford-Drexel Hill), Ambulance 44-7, Medic 106, Springfield Police, Fire Police and Springfield Township Code Enforcement.
