Single Vehicle Accident Traps Driver

Springfield Fire Company was dispatched on Wednesday, February 20th, at 08:14 hours to Springfield Road and Bishop Ave. for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.  TAC 44 arrived on location and began stabilization of one vehicle and set-up for extrication operations.  Firefighters from Rescue 44 assisted with the rescue operation.  Firefighters removed both driver-side doors and the vehicle’s B post to allow for EMS personnel to remove the driver. The driver’s dog was also in the vehicle and was removed unharmed from the vehicle by the crew of Rescue 44.

EMS
crews from Medic 103-7 and 44-7a cared for the injured driver and transported him to a local area hospital. Firefighters remained on the scene until 09:01 hours.  The accident is under investigation by Springfield Police Department.
